What a day in Passau! We Mad Bulldogs made a real statement this weekend, defeating the Passau Pirates 65-12. Not only did we secure our first win of the season, but we also showed that we're a force to be reckoned with again.

The game got off to a perfect start: Our defense was alert from the start, stopping the Pirates' first drive and sending a clear message. Shortly afterward, our offense put the first points on the scoreboard. The extra point didn't go in, but that didn't faze us for a moment—quite the opposite. We realized we had the game in hand.
Our quarterback, Matthew O'Meara, was in top form and consistently found his receivers in the best positions. This resulted in two more touchdowns and extra points in the second quarter. Passau did manage to get into our end zone once, but we went into halftime with a 19-6 lead – and we knew we could do even more.
After the break, we stepped it up a notch. After every touchdown, we went for two-point conversions – a variation where two more points are scored on a single play instead of a kick. Our OC Heiko Müller successfully employed the tush push, which is now also popular in Europe. The Pirates had little to counter it. Only a pick six brought them more points, but that didn't change the course of the game. In the last quarter alone, we added four touchdowns with two-point conversions – incredible!
With seven minutes left, Passau brought in their rookie quarterback, but even that couldn't stop our run. At the final whistle, the scoreboard showed a strong 65-12 – a respectable result that gave us a huge boost as a team.
Head coach Dany Emmanuel summed it up well after the game: "I'm incredibly proud of the boys. They finally showed what they're capable of – and rewarded themselves. We already saw some good potential against Augsburg, and now we've brought it onto the field."
After eleven games without a win, this victory was a real relief. Now we have a weekend off before our next game on May 18th, away against the Munich Rangers. They're currently without a touchdown, so we'll be highly motivated for the next match.
