SEASON OPENER 2026: straight to Nuremberg!

The long offseason is finally over! This coming Sunday, April 19th, our Amberg Mad Bulldogs kick off their new season in the Regionalliga Süd (Regional League South). The schedule serves up a real cracker right from the start: an away game against the Nürnberg Rams.
It's the first meeting of the new season and immediately a real test of strength that will show where the Mad Bulldogs stand. Anyone who remembers the intense, emotional duels and the heated atmosphere of previous years knows exactly: when Amberg and Nuremberg take to the field, nothing is given away and every single yard is fiercely contested.
With strong new signings, ready for the regional league
The team has been working hard and sweating over the past few months. The offseason was used strategically to further strengthen the roster, both in terms of depth and top-level talent. With three promising import players and numerous talented new additions, the Dawgs are exceptionally well-prepared for the new season. The goal for this weekend is clear: The team wants to channel the energy gained during preseason training directly onto the field and make a statement right from the start in the highly competitive Regionalliga Süd.
Tough test against a relegated second division team
However, the Nuremberg Rams are a true heavyweight of the league. The Franconian team played in the GFL2 last year and, as a relegated side, naturally brings a wealth of experience and physical toughness from Germany's second-highest league. The Rams also have the home-field advantage and will naturally want to make a dominant start to the season in front of their home crowd. It will be crucial that the Bulldogs' defense is fully alert from the first second and that the offense executes its game plan consistently and flawlessly against this experienced team.
