American football inspires millions of fans worldwide – and interest in this trend-setting sport is steadily growing in Amberg, too. Children and young people who would like to try out for themselves and join the team have the opportunity to do so right before the end of the school holidays on Saturday, September 13th, starting at 12 p.m.: The Amberg Mad Bulldogs juniors are inviting players to a tryout at the TV 1861 Amberg sports grounds.

Boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 18 are invited – regardless of whether they have previous sports experience or are complete newcomers. "Everyone is welcome here. Football thrives on diversity and team spirit – and that's exactly what we want to demonstrate," emphasizes youth coach Michel Berger. It doesn't matter how tall, short, petite, or stocky the children are – the great advantage of football is that there's a perfect position for everyone to enjoy the sport.
Flag Football: playful, safe, without physical contact
Flag football is offered to players ages 7 and up. This variant requires no physical contact: Instead of tackling, players pull a flag attached to their belts. This makes flag football an ideal introduction to the sport. In addition to speed and coordination, it promotes team spirit and fair play. This variant is offered in Amberg for ages under 11, under 13, under 16, and under 19 (then together with the senior team).
Tackle Football: the full football experience
Young people ages 16 and up can also try out the classic version of tackle football – complete with helmet, shoulder pads, and contact. Participants experience the full excitement of the sport: powerful plays, tactical finesse, and the special sense of community that characterizes football teams around the world. Coaches, of course, ensure that the tryouts are safe and fun.
No prior knowledge required
Particularly important: No previous experience is necessary for the tryout. "Sports gear and curiosity are completely sufficient. We'll explain the rest on site – and of course, the young people can try everything out for themselves," say the Bulldogs.
Any questions? Just let us know
With the tryout, the Mad Bulldogs want to give children and young people in the region access to a special sport – and at the same time show that football is more than just a game: It is a place for friendship, solidarity, and respect.
