At the Mad Bulldogs' partner evening at the end of last year, the focus was not only on a review of the past season or a look ahead to the coming season – but also on concrete support for Amberg as a football location.
With a donation totaling €10,000, two of our largest partners – L'Osteria Amberg / Neumarkt and LVM Versicherung Fickenscher – are supporting the further development of our department. The donation will primarily benefit the regional league team, but also the youth teams, which currently range from U7 to U19.

The donation initiative arose from a conversation between Ania and Matthias Seliger (owners of L'Osteria) and Rainer Fickenscher (owner of the LVM agency Fickenscher). All three are already partners of the Mad Bulldogs – and wanted to make an additional statement.
"We see how much dedication and professionalism goes into the Mad Bulldogs' work. That deserves support," says Rainer Fickenscher. Ania Seliger also emphasizes: "It quickly became clear to us that the previous sponsorship, while an important contribution, was not enough to sustainably promote the club's growth."
Investments in infrastructure, equipment and training
The donation will be used specifically for new equipment, travel expenses, and the planned training camp for the seniors. With a broader coaching staff, the first import player in the club's history, and the launch of a U19 tackle team, we are taking an important next step toward sustainable club development.
"We are very pleased about this support. It helps us implement important projects faster and more efficiently – and demonstrates how close and trusting the collaboration with our partners has become." Michael Sandner, Department Head of the Mad Bulldogs
American football has become established in Amberg in recent years. Up to 800 spectators per home game, a continuously growing youth program, and increasing public interest demonstrate that the sport has arrived in the region.
The Bulldogs see themselves not only as a sports team, but as part of the Amberg sports and club landscape with a role model function, social responsibility and an attractive offer for a wide variety of target groups.
We would like to thank L'Osteria and LVM Versicherung Fickenscher for their generous support – and look forward to starting an exciting 2025 season together with all partners, members and fans.
A few personal words
These 10,000 euros are a tremendous help, especially now when we have a lot to handle with six active teams, rising costs for equipment, travel, and training camps, and the growing professionalism of the senior team.
But for us, this donation means much more: It's a sign of trust. Of togetherness. And that our path is the right one.
When people from our city say, "We believe in you. You're making a difference," it gives us an incredible boost.

We believe that American football brings a new dimension to the sport to Amberg: team spirit, respect, and diversity. What matters here isn't what you look like or where you come from – what matters is that you give your all for your team. We live that spirit. And many people in our city are now feeling it, too.
The donation from L'Osteria and LVM Versicherung Fickenscher may have been the starting point for something even bigger. Perhaps some entrepreneurs reading this will say, "Hey, we think this is great too. We want to be a part of it." Then please reach out to us – we welcome any support, any idea, and any form of commitment.
And if anyone wants to put us to the test with a donation—no problem. Coach Dany has already said: "We're up for almost any challenge!" 😄
