MAD BULDOGS bleiben in der Regionalliga

Die Amberg Mad Bulldogs bleiben in der Regionalliga. Das hat der Spiel- und Sportausschuss des  American Football Verband Bayern gestern in seiner Sitzung zur Regioanlliga 2025 entschieden.

Die Erleichterung bei den Verantwortlichen der Amberg Mad Bulldogs ist groß. Nach vielen Wochen des Warten ist klar: Die Footballer des TV 1881 Amberg bekommen eine zweite Chance und bleiben in der Regionalliga, der dritthöchsten deutschen Football-Liga. Nach der aus sportlicher Sicht alles andere als gut verlaufenen Season 2024, die die DAWGS als Tabellenlezter abschließen mussten, hätten die Amberger eigentlich den Weg in die Bayernliga antreten müssen. Allerdings hat der Aufsteiger, die Munich Cowboys 2, entschieden, den ihnen zustehenden Platz in der Regionalliga nicht einzunehmen und aus strategischen Gründen weiterhin in der Bayernliga zu bleiben. Das machte den Weg für einen Nachrücker frei.

Die Regularien des AFVBY sehen in diesem Fall vor, dem Absteiger ein Vorrecht für den freien Platz zu gewähren. Dennoch hat man nun beim Verband genauer hingeschaut. Grundsätzlich erfüllen die Mad Bulldogs alle Voraussetzungen für eine Lizenz für die Regionalliga, allerdings kommen sie der sogenannten „Gestellungspflicht“ für Schiedsrichter nicht in vollem Umfang nach. Darum hat sich der Spiel- und Sportausschuss auch die Bewerbung der „Hemhofen Gechers“ genauer angesehen und das Team als Nachrücker in Betracht gezogen. Allerdings konnten die Amberger bei diesem Vergleich mit mehr Schiedsrichtern und mehr aktiven Jugendteams überzeugen und bekamen den Zuschlag.

Mich freut es ganz besonders für die Spieler, die trotz schwieriger Umstände in der vergangenen Season bis zur letzten Minute gekämpft haben – und für alle neuen Coaches und Spieler, die sich trotz der Unsicherheit der vergangenen Wochen für die Amberg Mad Bulldogs entschieden haben. Die Grundlagen für die Season 2025 hat Emmanuel bereits gelegt: Der Coachingstaff wurde komplett umgebaut und massiv erweitert, neue Spieler wurden rekrutiert und bestreiten bereits das Training. Außerdem steht der Vertragsabschluss mit dem ersten echten Importspieler in der Geschichte des Teams kurz vor der Unterschrift.

Die Tatsache, dass der Verband bei seiner Entscheidung unsere Anstrengungen im Bereich Jugendarbeit würdigt und auch anerkennt, dass wir uns bemühen, Schiedsrichter auszubilden, ist eine Bestätigung unserer Arbeit in der gesamten Abteilung. Michael Sandner, Abteilungleiter

Darum werden auch diese Anstrengungen intensiviert – zum Beispiel mit dem offiziellen Start einer Tackle U19 als Spielgemeinschaft mit einen oberpfälzer Nachbarverein (weitere Infos folgen).

Die Vorbereitungen auf die neue Season laufen bereits auf Hochtouren, das Training hat schon Anfang November begonnen. Das erste Heimspiel der Season 2025 steht aller Voraussicht nach Ende April / Anfang Mai 2025 an.

MAD BULLDOGS Stay in the Regional LeagueAmberg – The Amberg Mad Bulldogs will remain in the Regional League. This decision was made yesterday during the meeting of the Game and Sports Committee of the American Football Association of Bavaria (AFVBY) regarding the 2025 Regional League.

Relief is palpable among the leadership of the Amberg Mad Bulldogs. After weeks of uncertainty, it’s now official: the football team of TV 1881 Amberg has been granted a second chance to compete in the Regional League, the third-highest football league in Germany. Following a challenging 2024 season, which saw the DAWGS finish at the bottom of the standings, the team was initially slated for relegation to the Bavarian League. However, the newly promoted Munich Cowboys 2 opted not to take their rightful place in the Regional League, choosing instead to remain in the Bavarian League for strategic reasons. This opened up an opportunity for a replacement team.

According to AFVBY regulations, the relegated team has priority in such cases. Nevertheless, the association took a closer look at the situation. While the Mad Bulldogs generally meet all the requirements for a Regional League license, they have not fully complied with the obligation to provide referees. As a result, the Game and Sports Committee also reviewed the application of the “Hemhofen Gechers” as a potential replacement. However, the Amberg team ultimately won the bid, thanks to a higher number of referees and more active youth teams.

“I’m especially happy for the players who fought until the very last minute during the challenging circumstances of last season—and for all the new coaches and players who chose to join the Amberg Mad Bulldogs despite the uncertainties of recent weeks. We will do everything we can to make the 2025 season more successful!” said Head Coach Dany Emmanuel. He has already laid the groundwork for this: the coaching staff has been completely revamped and significantly expanded, and new players have been recruited and are already participating in training. Additionally, the team is close to signing its first-ever true import player in the club’s history.

Michael Sandner, head of the American Football department at TV Amberg, also welcomed the news from the AFVBY. “The fact that the association acknowledged our efforts in youth development and recognized our commitment to training referees is a validation of the work we’ve done across the entire department,” he said. Sandner added that these efforts will be intensified, such as launching an official U19 tackle team in partnership with a neighboring Upper Palatinate club (more details to follow).

Preparations for the new season are already in full swing, with training having started in early November. The first home game of the 2025 season is expected to take place in late April or early May 2025.

Amberg Mad Bulldogs zůstanou v Regionální lize. Toto rozhodnutí včera učinil Herní a sportovní výbor Bavorského svazu amerického fotbalu (AFVBY) na svém zasedání ohledně Regionální ligy 2025.

Mezi vedením Amberg Mad Bulldogs zavládla velká úleva. Po týdnech nejistoty je nyní jasné: fotbalisté TV 1881 Amberg dostali druhou šanci a zůstanou v Regionální lize, třetí nejvyšší lize amerického fotbalu v Německu. Po náročné sezóně 2024, kterou DAWGS zakončili na posledním místě tabulky, měl tým původně sestoupit do Bavorské ligy. Nově postoupivší tým Munich Cowboys 2 se však rozhodl své místo v Regionální lize nevyužít a zůstane z strategických důvodů v Bavorské lize. Tím vznikla příležitost pro náhradní tým.

Podle předpisů AFVBY má v takovém případě přednost sestupující tým. Přesto svaz situaci pečlivěji prozkoumal. Přestože Mad Bulldogs obecně splňují všechny požadavky pro licenci do Regionální ligy, nesplnili zcela povinnost zajistit dostatečný počet rozhodčích. Z tohoto důvodu Herní a sportovní výbor posoudil také žádost týmu „Hemhofen Gechers“ jako potenciálního náhradníka. Nakonec však Amberg uspěl díky vyššímu počtu rozhodčích a aktivnější mládežnické základně.

„Mám velkou radost především za hráče, kteří navzdory obtížným okolnostem bojovali do poslední minuty – a také za všechny nové trenéry a hráče, kteří se i přes nejistoty posledních týdnů rozhodli připojit k Amberg Mad Bulldogs. Uděláme vše pro to, aby byla sezóna 2025 úspěšnější!“ uvedl hlavní trenér Dany Emmanuel. Základy již položil: trenérský tým byl kompletně přepracován a výrazně rozšířen, noví hráči byli naverbováni a již trénují. Navíc se blíží podpis smlouvy s prvním skutečným importovaným hráčem v historii klubu.

Také vedoucí oddílu amerického fotbalu v TV Amberg Michael Sandner uvítal zprávu od AFVBY. „Skutečnost, že svaz při svém rozhodování ocenil naše úsilí v oblasti mládežnické práce a uznal, že se snažíme školit rozhodčí, je potvrzením naší práce v celém oddílu,“ řekl Sandner. Dodal, že tato úsilí budou dále zintenzivněna – například spuštěním oficiálního týmu U19 v rámci spolupráce s partnerským klubem v Horní Falci (další informace budou následovat).

Přípravy na novou sezónu jsou již v plném proudu, tréninky začaly na začátku listopadu. První domácí zápas sezóny 2025 se očekává na konci dubna nebo na začátku května 2025.
